Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris — Gibson Amphitheatre, Los Angeles, 2006

Real Live Roadrunning captures the concert Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris gave on 28 June 2006 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, during the tour behind their joint album All the Roadrunning. Before a sold-out house, the former Dire Straits leader and one of American country’s great voices blend their repertoires across a full concert of nearly two hours. The programme draws on their 2006 record (“This Is Us,” “All the Roadrunning,” “I Dug Up a Diamond”) while making room for long excursions into Knopfler’s catalogue, with Dire Straits’ “Romeo and Juliet” and “So Far Away,” and into Harris’s own songs (“Red Dirt Girl,” “Boulder to Birmingham”). The band features Guy Fletcher on keyboards, Richard Bennett on guitars and Danny Cummings on drums. This live filmed concert, released on Knopfler’s official channel, documents a rare meeting of British rock and americana, carried by two singer-guitarists at the height of their craft.
