In January 1994, Dorothee took over the Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy, the largest venue in Europe, for the fourth time, for a run of concerts drawing around 120,000 spectators. This full live concert, “Bercy 94,” captures at the height of her popularity the icon of French children’s television of the 1980s and 1990s, host of the Club Dorothee. Built around the album 2394 and a long medley of hits, the full concert strings together her successes (Tremblement de terre, Le college des coeurs brises, Les neiges de l’Himalaya, Dorothee Rock), served by a large-scale stage show. Dorothee is backed by her band drawn from Les Muscles, Bernard Minet (drums), Rene Morizur (saxophone), Claude Chamboissier (keyboards), under the musical direction of Gerard Salesses, with lighting by Jacques Rouveyrollis. A cult object for a whole generation, this Dorothee live concert at Bercy in 1994 is a precious record of live French pop and variete of the 1990s, ready to be rediscovered by the nostalgic and the merely curious alike, and a snapshot of a mass-scale phenomenon at its commercial peak.
