Broadcast by Canal Sur Televisión on November 15, 2010 from the Teatro Quintero in Seville, this special program “El Sol, la Sal, el Son. Flamenco Patrimonio del Alma” was recorded on the eve of flamenco’s inscription on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list, on November 16, 2010. This live capture brings together on stage several Andalusian artists — cante (song), toque (guitar) and baile (dance) — in a solemn celebration of the art of flamenco, at a historic moment for its international recognition. Produced by the Andalusian public channel, a reference for broadcasting flamenco, the program offers a living panorama of the traditional palos and of the transmission of a heritage deeply rooted in Andalusia. The quality of the television direction highlights the intensity of the duende, that state of emotion particular to flamenco. A precious multi-artist live capture for discovering authentic flamenco in a heritage setting. A benchmark filmed live concert for any lover of Andalusian music and Gitano art.
