Vicente Amigo — Jazz à Sète, Sète, 2014

Live concert filmed in 2014 at the Jazz à Sète festival in the south of France, and broadcast by Qwest TV, with Spanish flamenco guitarist Vicente Amigo. Born in Guadalcanal and based in Córdoba, the artist is one of the great masters of the flamenco guitar, a Latin Grammy winner for “Paseo de Gracia” (2009) and a partner of musicians such as Paco de Lucía and John McLaughlin. On stage, he presents the repertoire of his album “Tierra” (2013), which marries flamenco and Celtic music. He is surrounded by a remarkable ensemble: Paquito González (percussion), Añil Fernández (guitar), Rafael de Utrera (vocals) whose modulations grab the listener, keyboardist Guy Fletcher (formerly of Dire Straits), flautist Mike McGoldrick and bassist Ewen Vernal, the latter two from the Scottish Celtic scene. The capture highlights the virtuosity of the playing, the dialogue between traditions and the emotional intensity of flamenco. A filmed live concert not to be missed by fans of guitar, contemporary flamenco and musical cross-pollination.
