Footage of the Gipsy Kings at the Festival del Huaso de Olmué 2018, on the stage of the El Patagual amphitheatre in Olmué (Chile). Led by singer Nicolas Reyes and lead guitarist Tonino Baliardo, the Gipsy Kings unfurl their festive flamenco rumba and Gypsy guitars before an enthusiastic South American crowd. The full concert runs through the hits that carried this repertoire around the world: “Baila me”, “Djobi djoba”, “Bamboléo”, their adaptations of “Volare” and “My Way” (“A mi manera”), “Bem, bem Maria” and “Un amor”. Between palmas, gravelly voices and virtuoso arpeggios, the Catalan- and Provençal-rooted group turns the Chilean stage into a Mediterranean fiesta. This live concert filmed by Chilean public television (TVN) offers polished sound and picture of one of the world’s most popular flamenco-rumba bands. Rooted in the Gitan community of the south of France and made globally famous by “Bamboléo” and “Djobi Djoba” in the late 1980s, the Gipsy Kings turn every show into a celebration, as this Chilean crowd makes clear. A live concert to discover for lovers of flamenco, Gypsy rumba and festive music.
