Her’s — Live at 3voor12 Radio, 2018

Live session by British duo Her’s recorded for Dutch radio 3voor12 in 2018. Formed in Liverpool, Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading deliver an intimate performance of their sun-kissed jangle pop, at once dreamy and tinged with melancholy. Shimmering guitars, melodic bass and vocal harmonies: the three songs — “Harvey”, “Under Wraps” and “Low Beam” — sum up the singular chemistry of a cult act of the late-2010s indie-pop scene. This filmed live concert in a radio studio now carries particular weight: the duo died tragically in 2019, making every capture a precious record of their talent and their rapport. The session conveys the warmth and simplicity of a handcrafted music, far from big productions, carried by the charm of melodic songwriting and the obviousness of a rare musical understanding. A moving document for fans of indie pop and stripped-back live sessions. The session also captures a specific late-2010s mood, where lo-fi warmth and pop craft met in equal measure.
