James Taylor — Cambridge Folk Festival, 1999

A full live concert by James Taylor at the Cambridge Folk Festival on 1 August 1999, during his European tour. An icon of the American singer-songwriter tradition, with his gentle voice and signature acoustic-guitar style, Taylor works through a repertoire spanning three decades of intimate classics. From « Carolina in My Mind » to « How Sweet It Is », taking in « Fire and Rain », « Country Road », « Shower the People » and the inescapable « You’ve Got a Friend », he strings together the songs that made him one of the most beloved writers in folk. On the stage of Britain’s oldest folk festival (founded in 1965), he offers a warm performance carried by an attentive crowd. This filmed live performance is a precious document of acoustic folk stagecraft in the late 1990s. An essential full concert for fans of folk, ballads and song-craft. Filmed live concert, folk festival, 1990s folk.
