Juan Gabriel — Palacio de Bellas Artes (Mis 40 en Bellas Artes), Mexico City, 2013
This is the full live concert “Mis 40 en Bellas Artes,” performed by Juan Gabriel on August 31, 2013 at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. The show celebrated the “Divo de Juárez” and his forty years on stage, making him the only popular singer to perform three times at Mexico’s foremost cultural venue, after 1990 and 1997. The live set pairs his best-known songs with orchestral and mariachi backing inside the hall’s prestigious acoustics. The repertoire spans decades of Latin song: the “Obertura Parácuaro” overture, followed by “Querida,” “Me Nace del Corazón,” “Amor de un Rato,” “Siempre en Mi Mente,” “Abrázame Muy Fuerte” and the closing “El Noa Noa.” Spanish singer Isabel Pantoja joins Juan Gabriel for a duet on “Así Fue.” One of the most important figures in Mexican music and the writer of hundreds of songs, Juan Gabriel delivers a landmark performance in this full concert, captured for a double album and DVD released in 2014. The filmed concert has become a heritage document, screened repeatedly in Mexico after the artist’s death in 2016. The tracklist below follows the official live album order.
