On 12 July 2026, Koffi Olomidé took over Brussels’ King Baudouin Stadium for a mega-concert celebrating his 70th birthday, billed as the first by an African artist to fill the legendary venue. This full concert documents Congolese rumba and soukous in their most spectacular dimension: leading his orchestra Quartier Latin International, the singer-songwriter, one of the tutelary figures of Congolese music, unfolds a repertoire spanning several decades and more than three hundred songs. The capture conveys the scale of the production — choreography, dancers, frenzied sebene carried by the guitars — and the emotion of a crowd that came in numbers to Brussels. Several Congolese artists supported the event, including Ferré Gola, Innoss’B, Fabregas and Héritier Watanabe. A major live archive for African music and world music, this video bears witness to a historic diaspora moment, where Congolese rumba, now inscribed on UNESCO’s heritage list, enjoys a stage worthy of its influence.
