Filmed on 9 October 2009 at the Trocadéro, facing the Eiffel Tower in Paris, this live concert is part of La Blogothèque’s celebrated “Take Away Shows”, directed by Vincent Moon. The Versailles band Phoenix, then at the peak of its international success following the album “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix”, performs two songs outdoors among the public: “Lisztomania” and “One Time Too Many”. Far from the polished production of their records, this acoustic, roaming capture stages the encounter between a world-renowned pop band and an iconic Paris landmark, with no stage and no barriers. Vincent Moon’s handheld camera captures the raw energy and improvisation characteristic of the format. The film has become a reference within the series and a valuable testimony to French pop of the 2000s at its height. An essential live document for understanding why Phoenix became one of the most influential French bands of its generation, and for rediscovering “Lisztomania” in a stripped-down, vibrant version.
