The National — NPR Tiny Desk Concert, 2013
Tiny Desk Concert by American band The National, recorded in 2013 behind Bob Boilen’s desk at NPR’s offices in Washington. For this filmed live session, the indie-rock group led by Matt Berninger appears in an expanded lineup — up to seven musicians, with horns and piano — and delivers stripped-down acoustic versions of four songs from its album « Trouble Will Find Me »: « This Is The Last Time », « I Need My Girl », « Pink Rabbits » and « Sea Of Love ». Despite a voice worn down by a show the night before, Berninger and his bandmates offer one of the very first encores in Tiny Desk history at the radio’s new building. Intimate and warm, this capture illustrates the art of nuance of a leading band of 2000s and 2010s American rock. Live concert video, indie rock, acoustic NPR live session.
