Live concert film of Tower of Power at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California, recorded on 1-2 June 2018 for the band’s fiftieth anniversary. Founded in 1968 in the San Francisco Bay Area, the group is an institution of funk and soul, famous for its horn section, the Tower of Power Horns. This full concert runs through the repertoire’s classics: « Soul with a Capital S », « What Is Hip? », « Soul Vaccination », « So Very Hard to Go » and « You’re Still a Young Man ». Led by saxophonist and founder Emilio Castillo and baritone Stephen « Doc » Kupka, the line-up features drummer David Garibaldi, singer Marcus Scott and numerous guests and alumni for the occasion. The high-definition recording highlights the rhythmic precision and horn power that built the band’s reputation. A reference live concert film for lovers of funk, soul and Californian grooves, documenting half a century on stage.
