Vulfpeck — Madison Square Garden, 2019

Full live concert by Vulfpeck at Madison Square Garden in New York on 28 September 2019 — their headlining debut at the legendary arena, with no radio promotion or major label. Released on the band’s official channel, this capture documents a full concert of more than twenty songs, from « The Sweet Science » to « It Gets Funkier », driven by the minimalist, mischievous groove that turned the Michigan quartet into an internet sensation. Joe Dart’s deep bass (« Dean Town », « Beastly ») and Jack Stratton’s command of the backbeat anchor a joyful set, dotted with prestigious guests: Chris Thile on mandolin, saxophonist Dave Koz, singer Antwaun Stanley and legendary drummer Bernard Purdie. This live filmed concert has become a reference for understanding the revival of instrumental funk in the 2010s. Clear sound, careful editing and infectious energy: an essential document for any groove lover and a landmark of the band’s independent, fan-funded rise.
