Alpha Blondy — Pol’and’Rock Festival, 2018

A major figure of African reggae, the Ivorian Alpha Blondy has sung since the 1980s a message of peace and political conscience in Dioula, French, English and Hebrew. Before the vast crowd of one of Europe’s largest free festivals, he delivers a set carried by his classics and the tightness of his band, the Solar System. This first part of the concert strings together « Jerusalem », « Rainbow in the Sky », « Multipartisme » and « Cocody Rock », emblematic songs of a repertoire that blends Jamaican roots with West African identity.
