Constantinople & Dani de Morón — Duende & Hâl, 2025

Published on August 31, 2026 by

Live concert of the programme Duende & Hâl, a creation by the Montreal ensemble Constantinople led by setar player Kiya Tabassian, in dialogue with flamenco guitarist Dani de Morón. This filmed full concert brings together the Andalusian flamenco guitar and the Persian setar, two art traditions united around a shared quest for musical ecstasy — the duende of flamenco, dear to Federico García Lorca, and the hâl of Persian music both name that state of incandescent inspiration. Alongside Tabassian and Dani de Morón, the flamenco singing of Rosario la Tremendita and the Persian voice of Mohammad Motamedi weave a bridge between Spain and Iran, between flamenco compás and Persian modes. The recording conveys the refinement of a demanding world-music project, where improvisation and mutual listening prevail. An ideal document for lovers of flamenco, Persian music and art-music fusions in concert, illustrating the vitality of an intercultural dialogue carried by leading performers and a meticulous production, preserved here in full.
