Duende Flamenco — Rist Istanbul, 2026

A filmed live concert by the group Duende Flamenco, recorded at Rist Istanbul as part of the “RistArt” artistic event. Formed in Ankara and active since 2006, the Turkish quintet explores the flamenco repertoire alongside many guest dancers and musicians across Turkey. The name “duende” refers to that state of grace, the artistic trance flamenco performers seek to reach and pass on to the audience: that is precisely what the group sets out to capture onstage. Carried by two flamenco guitars, a bass, a cajón and percussion, the performance sets the dancer’s footwork and zapateado in dialogue with Andalusian rhythms and melodies. The careful capture conveys the warmth and intensity particular to this orally transmitted music. An interesting document for flamenco lovers outside Spain, this filmed concert illustrates the international spread of the Andalusian genre and the vitality of a passionate Turkish scene that upholds the art of flamenco with rigour and emotion.
