Full live concert by George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars recorded on the West Stage of the Woodstock ’99 festival in Rome (New York State, USA) on 22 July 1999. The godfather of funk and architect of the Parliament and Funkadelic universes, George Clinton here unleashes the full madness of ‘P-Funk’: a sprawling collective, roaring horns, cosmic keyboards and endless jams. This filmed full concert, from the Music Vault archives, restores the jubilation of a marathon set stringing together classics and improvisation, from ‘Maggot Brain’ to the ‘Mothership Connection / We Want The Funk / Atomic Dog’ suite. Between hypnotic groove, stage humour and infectious energy, this live captation illustrates the power of a show conceived as a collective trance. A precious document for fans of funk, soul and African-American culture, this 1999 live concert captures Clinton’s intact vitality at the close of the 1990s. A performance to rediscover to measure the lasting imprint of P-Funk on popular music, ‘George Clinton P-Funk Woodstock 99 full concert live’.
