Why this recording

Twenty-five years later, it is the Pinkpop festival's own archive channel that puts this set online, alongside performances by Metallica, Rage Against the Machine and Pearl Jam. Sixteen songs in an hour: the band opens with "Falling Away from Me" and closes with "Blind". In between, the set also takes in "Ball Tongue", "Faget" and "Kill You". The copy is in high definition.

Full concert filmed on 12 June 2000 at the Pinkpop festival, on the Megaland site in Landgraaf, the Netherlands, and released as pro-shot footage by the festival’s official archive. Formed in Bakersfield in 1993, Korn is the band that gave nu metal its name, a fusion of metal, hip-hop, groove and dissonance driven by Jonathan Davis’s tortured lyrics. In 2000, at the peak of Follow the Leader’s success and on the eve of Issues, the band delivers a brutal, cathartic set, from « Falling Away from Me » and « Got the Life » to « Freak on a Leash », « Blind » and « Twist ». Notably, with drummer David Silveria injured, it is Mike « Puffy » Bordin of Faith No More behind the kit. The capture conveys the seismic power of one of the flagship metal bands of the late 1990s. This filmed live performance from 2000 is a precious archive document, ideal for reliving the golden age of nu metal on one of Europe’s biggest festival stages.
