Filmed live session by Paramore for the NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert, recorded at NPR’s Washington headquarters and published on 2 October 2017. The American band led by Hayley Williams adapts three songs from its album After Laughter (2017) in stripped-down form: « Hard Times », « 26 » and « Fake Happy ». Without a full drum kit, Zac Farro plays a drum machine and percussion, while keys, guitars and bass recreate the record’s synth-pop, melancholy sound in the acoustic format of the famous desk. This intimate capture foregrounds Hayley Williams’s voice and the band’s songwriting, far from the power of their arena shows. Representative of the Tiny Desk concept — several songs performed live, with no frills — this document is ideal for discovering Paramore’s most organic side. A pop live session to recommend to fans of the band and of the NPR format alike.
