Recorded on April 7, 2012 in the KEXP studio in Seattle, this filmed live session introduces Reignwolf, the project of Canadian multi-instrumentalist Jordan Cook, a native of Saskatoon. Working almost entirely alone, switching between guitar and drums, Cook delivers the incandescent, primitive blues-rock that built his live reputation. The setlist — “Electric Love,” “Old Man,” “The Chain” and “In The Dark” — alternates original material and electrified reinterpretation, with an intensity that recalls the golden age of amplified blues and garage rock. This capture dates from Reignwolf’s early days, when festival word of mouth across North America was beginning to turn Jordan Cook into a cult live force. Faithful to the sonic standards of the Live on KEXP series, the performance foregrounds the thick riff, the raspy voice and the brutal drumming of a true one-man band. A filmed live concert made for lovers of raw blues-rock from the 2010s and for anyone tracing the roots of the modern blues revival.
