This live concert filmed in the streets of San Francisco is part of La Blogothèque’s “Take Away Shows”. It features the American band The Lumineers, then rising fast worldwide thanks to the success of their debut album and the hit “Ho Hey”. Out in the street, surrounded by a willing crowd, Wesley Schultz, Jeremiah Fraites and cellist Neyla Pekarek perform two songs, “Ho Hey” and “Big Parade”, in an acoustic, participatory version that perfectly embodies the band’s folk-americana spirit. Far from big stages, this roaming capture highlights the collective, warm dimension of their music, built on chanted choruses and minimal instrumentation. Filmed by Arturo Perez Jr. with sound by Joel Sadler, the performance became an emblematic moment of the series. This live is a valuable testimony to the folk revival of the early 2010s, of which The Lumineers were among the standard-bearers. An ideal video for rediscovering “Ho Hey” in its most spontaneous context, as close to the audience as possible.
