The Rolling Stones — Ernst-Happel-Stadion, Vienna, 2022
The Rolling Stones brought their SIXTY Tour — marking sixty years as a band — to Vienna’s Ernst-Happel-Stadion on 15 July 2022. This filmed live concert opens with a tribute to Charlie Watts, the group’s longtime drummer who died in 2021, before Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood unfurl a set spanning six decades. Backed by Steve Jordan on drums and Darryl Jones on bass, the band runs through “Street Fighting Man,” “Tumbling Dice,” a reading of Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” and the recent “Living in a Ghost Town.” Classics “Paint It Black,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Sympathy for the Devil” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” anchor this two-hour-plus full concert. On “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” two Ukrainian children’s choirs join the Vienna stage. A multi-camera capture of one highlight of the 2022 European tour, this live performance shows the undimmed energy of Britain’s most famous rock band in front of a sold-out stadium.
