Live capture recorded in 2021 at The Jalopy Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, exclusively for KEXP radio, with American singer and drummer Aaron Frazer. Revealed within Durand Jones & The Indications, Frazer made his solo mark with his debut album “Introducing…,” produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. His falsetto voice, heir to the vintage soul of the 1960s-70s, carries a five-song set — “Bad News,” “Have Mercy,” “If I Got It,” “Love Is” and “Over You” — in which warm arrangements, strings and retro groove meet contemporary songwriting. Directed by Sam Graff (camera by Matthew Marino, sound by Vince Chiarito), the session cares for the analog aesthetic and the intimacy of the venue. This live performance illustrates the revival of American soul and the vitality of a scene reactivating the legacy of Motown and northern soul. A filmed live concert ideal for fans of soul, vintage rhythm and blues and exceptional voices.
