Live session by Bombino captured at the KEXP radio studios in Seattle (United States) in 2018. A Tuareg guitarist and singer from Agadez, Niger, Bombino is one of the great ambassadors of ‘desert blues’, the hypnotic music born in the Sahara that weaves together guitar trances, driving rhythms and singing in Tamasheq. In KEXP’s ‘Full Performance’ format, the artist and his band deliver a filmed live concert in which the electric guitars coil into long, incandescent loops carried by a rolling groove. This live captation restores all the fervour of a music both rooted in nomadic tradition and open to Western rock. For fans of world music, Saharan blues and guitar, this 2018 performance is a striking document: it shows how Bombino has carried the sounds of the desert onto international stages. A live concert to discover, to travel for a few songs from the Seattle studios to the dunes of the Ténéré, ‘Bombino KEXP full performance live’.
