Capture of the “Attack on Titan Orchestra Concert” given on Sunday 22 August 2021 at the Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall in Japan. Composers Hiroyuki Sawano and KOHTA YAMAMOTO conduct and reinterpret, in orchestral form, the music of the cult anime series “Attack on Titan”. Between epic strings, choirs, brass and electronics, the concert unfurls a grandiose score, supported by guest vocalists Aimee Blackschleger, Eliana, Laco and mpi, and enhanced by the presence of voice actors Yuki Kaji, Yui Ishikawa and Marina Inoue. This filmed live concert illustrates the vitality of an often-overlooked facet of contemporary classical music: film and animation music brought to the stage, at the crossroads of symphony orchestra and modern production. For soundtrack fans and the orchestrally curious alike, the footage offers a spectacular immersion in a powerful sound world, where symphonic lyricism meets the energy of pop and rock. It is also a showcase for Japan’s thriving culture of concert adaptations of anime and video-game scores.
