Benjamin Biolay — Concert très très privé RTL2, 2021

An intimate Concert très très privé filmed for RTL2 at Studio Ferber in Paris, recorded on 23 April 2021 and broadcast on 30 April 2021. In this close-up format, French singer Benjamin Biolay presents his 2020 album Grand Prix and revisits songs from his catalogue in a stripped-back setting that favours the lyrics and the arrangements. Away from large venues, the staging foregrounds the deep voice and nonchalant phrasing that define his writing, poised between French chanson, pop and more hushed influences. The concert also welcomes several guest singers who each share a song, among them Jeanne Cherhal, Chiara Mastroianni and Adé, in the spirit of collaboration that runs through his career. This live concert comes during a high point for Biolay, honoured at the Victoires de la Musique for Grand Prix, and documents how that material takes shape in a close, acoustic configuration. Between confession and melancholy elegance, this full concert offers a restrained, carefully crafted reading of a landmark record, captured right beside the artist and his musicians for the RTL2 broadcast and its online audience.
