Mississippi Mass Choir — Flowood, 2022

Full concert video of the Mississippi Mass Choir, « We Still Believe », recorded on 28 October 2022 at Word of Life Church in Flowood, Mississippi. An institution of American gospel founded in Jackson in 1988, the choir brings together dozens of voices for a live capture that gave rise to its eleventh album. Carried by incandescent soloists, a soul rhythm section and monumental vocal harmonies, the performance alternates praise anthems, moving spirituals and moments of collective fervour. The full concert restores the power of this mass choir tradition, where the choir becomes an instrument in its own right and every surge in intensity lifts the congregation. A faithful document of a music deeply rooted in African-American culture and the churches of the South, this live recording celebrates a spiritual and musical heritage handed down for more than three decades. An essential live set to discover contemporary gospel in its most vibrant, communal form.
