Live session by Maverick City Music recorded for the NPR Tiny Desk Concerts, at NPR’s headquarters in Washington D.C. (United States) in 2022. A contemporary gospel and worship collective that became a phenomenon, Maverick City Music brings together a choir and solo singers in an inclusive, spontaneous approach to worship in music. In the intimate Tiny Desk format — several songs played live, without gimmicks, behind the famous desk cluttered with books and records — the collective delivers a filmed live concert of great fervour, carried by sumptuous vocal harmonies and infectious energy. This live captation restores the warmth of the arrangements, the emotion of the soloists and the participatory dimension of gospel. For fans of gospel, soul and contemporary Christian music, this 2022 performance is an excellent record: it shows how Maverick City Music has renewed the genre and won over a broad audience. A live concert to discover for the intensity of its voices and the sincerity of its performance, ‘Maverick City Music Tiny Desk live’.
