Vasco Rossi — Fronte del Palco, San Siro & Flaminio, 1990

This filmed concert brings together Vasco Rossi’s first two appearances in Italian stadiums, captured during the “Fronte del Palco” tour in the summer of 1990: San Siro in Milan on July 10 and the Stadio Flaminio in Rome on July 14. Released in 1991 on VHS as Fronte del Palco Live 90, the footage marks a turning point for the leading figure of Italian rock, who moved from arenas to stadiums in front of tens of thousands of fans (around 70,000 at San Siro). The repertoire draws on the artist’s recent albums, “C’è chi dice no” (1987) and “Liberi liberi” (1989), alongside the big hits of earlier years. The live set opens with “…Muoviti!,” “Blasco Rossi,” “C’è chi dice no” and “Dillo alla luna.” Backed by his band — the taut guitars, bass and keyboards of a nervy stage rock — Vasco delivers the raw energy and streetwise swagger that made him a legend with Italian audiences. This 1990 stadium recording documents the moment Vasco Rossi became a genuine mass phenomenon, reaching far beyond the rock circle, and remains a reference point for his live career in the full concert format.
