Danger Dan & RSO Wien — FM4 Session, Vienna, 2024

Live session by German singer-songwriter Danger Dan accompanied by the Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra (ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien), recorded on 6 March 2024 at the RadioKulturhaus in Vienna for the FM4 Session. Known for his membership of the Antilopen Gang collective, Danger Dan won over a wide audience with his piano album “Das ist alles von der Kunstfreiheit gedeckt,” with its sharp, political lyrics. For this live capture, his songs are rearranged for full orchestra by Bernhard Philipp Eder, conducted by Gottfried Rabl: the result is literate song carried by broad, dramatic symphonic arrangements. Between biting irony, melancholy and commitment, tracks such as “Lauf Davon,” “Eine gute Nachricht” and the title song take on a new, almost cinematic dimension. For lovers of chanson, committed songwriting and encounters between popular music and orchestra, this live concert video is a striking success and one of the finest FM4 Session captures to date. Running time: roughly 52 minutes, nine songs on the setlist.
