Living Colour — Pinkpop, 1993
Why this recording
Pinkpop 1993 came shortly after Doug Wimbish joined, replacing Muzz Skillings before Stain was recorded, so the video shows that album's line-up, on a record the description calls darker and heavier than its predecessors. The festival's archive, which presents itself as Pinkpop's official channel, premiered the show on 26 September 2026. The set played for the Dutch crowd includes “Love Rears Its Ugly Head”, which the description notes was a hit in the Netherlands, and ends with “Cult of Personality”.

Full live concert of Living Colour at the Pinkpop festival in Landgraaf, Netherlands, on 31 May 1993. This filmed full concert shows the New York quartet touring the album Stain, with Corey Glover on vocals, virtuoso guitarist Vernon Reid, new bassist Doug Wimbish (who replaced Muzz Skillings in 1992) and Will Calhoun on drums. A pioneering Black rock band, Living Colour delivers at Pinkpop its signature blend of hard rock, funk, metal and political consciousness, from Love Rears Its Ugly Head to the unavoidable Cult of Personality, their Grammy-winning anthem. The recording captures the raw energy and technical brilliance of one of the most singular acts of the late-1980s and early-1990s rock scene. A valuable live concert for understanding Living Colour’s place in rock history, filmed at one of Europe’s largest festivals. An ideal archive document for fans of live rock and electric guitar, preserving a full performance from a defining year of the band’s career.
